Egg Noodles with Ketchup
Fresh Cabbage • Polish Kielbasa • Egg Noods • Tomato Broth
Ingredients
- • 1 head of homegrown cabbage
- • Package of egg noodles
- • Pound or two of kielbasa
- • 7 slices of bacon
- • 5 cloves of garlic
- • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- • small can of chicken stock (or roughly 2 cups)
- • a few splashes of Shaoxing rice wine
- • Fresh parsley
- • 1 teaspooon paprika
- • 1/4 teaspoon caraway seed
- • Sea salt
- • Freshly ground black pepper

Method
- 1
Start boiling some water
- 2
Chop the gahhhlic, chop the onion, chop the cabbage.
- 3
Slice up the kielbasa into quarter inch thick slices
- 4
Start boiling the egg noodles and strain when done
- 5
Fry up the bacon then remove from pan onto paper towels or wire rack.
- 6
Saute the onions in the bacon fat.
- 7
Now remove the onions and fry up the kielbasa
- 8
Remove the kielbasa and throw in the cabbage.
- 9
After the cabbage wilts slightly, sprinkle the seasonings on it, saute it for a few seconds, then drizzle in the rice wine and deglaze the pan.
- 10
Add the tomato paste and stir it into the cabbage. I don't actually use ketchup, although some people do.
- 11
Add the chicken stock, kielbasa, onions, and half the bacon then bring to a simmer.
- 12
Throw in a little fresh parsley and the egg noodles.
- 13
Stir everything together.
- 14
Now go live the rest of your life like a schnook.
